Remember when I was going to do a song every week of 2015? Whoops I only got through 14 so that didn’t happen… but this recording happened last week in Lake Tahoe! Crooked Teeth by Death Cab for Cutie – check it out!

I’m trying the New Year’s thing again (it’s already been a year?) this time with live performance. Kicking this year off with playing at my friend Caroline’s on the first Sunday of the year. Below is one of the songs I’ll play.
This is a song I pieced together after friend jam sessions in high school. For my first girlfriend’s birthday about how we first got together at an Amusement Park when I was too chicken shit to ride a rollercoaster.
Resurrected from the awkward angsty teenaged troves of my MySpace.
Dark and cold,
Could you tell this was the
Last place I wanted to be?
They even told me
That I’d love it so much still I refuse to believe.
I saw you standing solo
Under spotlight and ten tons of steel.
We had time, enough to kill.
My tongue was tied and that’s enough
To make a nervous boy feel like
I have no idea what to do,
Like I want to look real cool for you
And I’ll gladly stand by you.
I’ll gladly stand by you.
This park will close and
I can’t decide
I can’t decide
What do with my
Ten minutes of time staring out into night
Ten minutes of time in an empty line.
We have to leave this place and
Resolve uncertain ties
Over coaster rides.
But until then we’ll walk out the gate.
Give me your hand, you’re my new heartache.
I have no idea what to do,
Like I want to look real cool for you and
I’ll gladly stand by you.
I’ll gladly stand by you.

Video #11 of 53. Recorded around the corner from the Longnow Foundation, San Francisco. Beautiful song by Chris Staples:
I want to tell you a story, the only way I can
I’m just replacing a man
Who came before me.
And one day the world will see
Another man replacing me
That’s just the way it’s got to be.
It’s always been that way.
On the Dark Side of the Moon.
I want to love you, I want to pass it on
I want to give, and give, until it’s all gone
I want to know you while we have the time,
Because it’s all I have to leave behind
On the Dark Side of the Moon.
Special thanks to Cat (who runs some intriguing projects at Longnow) for the hand with filming this week.
Enjoy “Dark Side of The Moon” by Chris Staples.

Another ultimate 80s jam favorite. Recorded with my new mini guitar, beautifully hand-crafted by a local artisan in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Recorded in Buriram. Special thanks to my cousins for pushing the record button and putting up with multiple takes (and a few English curse words). I say a few things in Thai at the end if you’re interested in what little Thai I’ve re-learned on the trip.

Week #6 of 53 for the New Year’s Resolution Thursdays videos on SixteenLetters.com.
This week’s video is a seriously underrated 80s jam. Apparently they played the song at the Super Bowl? I must of been busy hanging around the guacamole.
Enjoy this different version of “Your Love”.

For my 2015 New Year’s Resolution, every week on Thursdays I’ll either be posting a new song to YouTube or publishing new photography to my site SixteenLetters.com through this year.
It’s the 3rd straight week of the 2015 New Year’s Resolution videos & photography: This week video is from a band that was had an mind-blowing first album, legit second, and questionable follow ups since. I still have a soft spot for this high school Coldplay classic (despite The 40 Year Old Virgin movie references)… enjoy and share!

Hope you liked last week’s video. This week’s is a cover of one of my favorite Yeah Yeah Yeahs songs — enjoy and share!

During my time launching and co-founding the startup Prelimb, developers of the first augmented reality landscape design app, I put together this promo video & press kit to help our customers understand the product.
It was quite a good challenge to visually communicate the app’s concept to non-technical gardeners. This was an unprecedented use of augmented reality technology in the home and garden industry.

Sara Bendrick is host of DIY Network’s “I Hate My Yard” Television series and a dear friend. Sara’s amazing TV-ready yet authentic personality was great fun to capture, not to mention her landscape designs make great pieces to shoot.
